Blacker Hall Farm Shop
At Blacker Hall Farm Shop, they offer award-winning seasonal produce from their own farm, along with other local farms. Around 75% of what is sold is made or grown on site, so whether you’re picking up a few essentials in The Farm Shop or enjoying a leisurely lunch in The Barn Café, our passion and determination is engraved into every inch of the Blacker Hall experience.
They opened the doors to their 400 year old barn and welcomed their first customers in 1999, and from that day onwards the mission has remained the same: to provide customers with top quality, seasonal Yorkshire produce.
Five generations of family farming are the back-bone of the Blacker Hall business, and while Edward Garthwaite and his wife Cheryl run The Farm Shop and Barn Café, Edward’s sister, Mary, and her husband Matthew run the farm (with a helping hand from Edward’s father, John).
Edward’s mother, Anne, played an active role in our Bakery for many years, and while she retired from The Farm Shop in 2012 she continues to remain a Director… as well as a full-time farmer’s wife, mother and grandmother. The homemade scones are delicious Anne Garthwaite recipe… but everyone is sworn to secrecy!
At the heart of the business is our great Yorkshire produce, and they were honored to be named the Great Taste Shop of the Year 2016 by the prestigious Guild of Fine Food. The team of 150 staff work incredibly hard, seven days a week, to ensure quality food is prepared, packed and served with exceptional standards of customer service. With a well-stocked Wine Loft and the increasingly popular Gift House, Blacker Hall Farm Shop is a must-visit destination in Yorkshire.
